Social networking is such a big thing these days. I figured I am so actively engaged in social networking sites now, why not write about it. I absolutely understand how key social networking is to any business.
Social networking sites provide such a great way to meet people that are living in places you may never visit. No longer do I have to rely on physical networking only to grow my business through meeting people. I do like getting out there and meeting people face to face. But I also love the territory one can cover from social networking. I have gained 2 new clients through the process and spoke with 3 others that I did not gain as clients, but at least the opportunity was there.
I especially like Twitter. I think it is definitely the best social networking site because it’s quick, valuable, and an abundance of information. The key though is who you follow – at least it is for me. I don’t just follow anyone. I will follow you at first and see what you tweet about, but if it is boring or salesy – I unfollow. I love all the variety of the twitter bird – can you tell?
I have met some really cool friends that I talk to quite often. I enjoy it because it has opened up a new world to me. It has inspired me to look at the value I offer to my clients, my friends, and other business associates. It has caused me to realize or at least think more about how my business is perceived by others that don’t know me directly. I really believe social networking sites really aid in knowing or learning who is providing more quality and who is more engaged in this fast pace technological world we live in today.
I have had discussions with people that are in business and think Twitter is a waste of time or they just don’t have time for it. Of course, it is because they don’t understand it nor see the value of it. I do have a new friends that are starting business and see the value. They are slowly being consistent and twittering more and more . Are you on twitter? – follow me.
Twitter inspired me to finally start blogging. I am still learning and growing my blogging arsenal. I am trying to be more consistent. Right now, I am happy I have started!…
My other favorite is Facebook. Of course there is so much more to see and learn from people on Facebook that it can be overwhelming. I try to be engaged, but I am not as engaged as I should be. I have also been working on clients Facebook pages to help them maintain and gain new friends. One client is almost at the max of 5000 friends and he has a fan page. I need to learn more about utilizing fan pages, how to migrate people there as well as what else needs to be on a fan page to make it more attractive.
Social networking sites are a learning process. There are sooo many “experts” out there that it is just baffling to me. I take my time to watch and learn who the real experts are and now trying to pattern some things after them. If they appear successful from afar, time to dig in and see if it’s true.
Isn’t this an excellent time to be involved on the internet – soo much to learn and soo much to do!!
