My favorite email comes from Tyler Perry. I not only love his movies and sitcoms because of the innate messages, but I love his marketing style.
One of my favorites is a recent email he sent the first part of March – which is where the title of this post came from. In this email he has a great line…”Don’t let your dreams lose their color”. I LOVE THAT!
He threw a party after the image awards “for the people who have to knock on 1,000 doors to get a break when others seem to be able to make one phone call and get things done. I called the party “Rise Above It” because that’s what we have to do sometimes. I could sit thinking about a million things that are wrong, but instead I choose to think on what is right So “as a man thinketh so is he”. In order to see any kind of good success you’ve got to think positively so that positive things can start to happen in your life. This I know for a fact–IT WORKS! Your thoughts are so powerful“.
Is that not a great statement from someone who demonstrates that thinking positive works? I am a firm believer that thoughts are powerful. Quick story:
When I lived in Long Beach I would always take side streets to get from one part of it to another. Almost every time I drove down this particular street, I always thought or said, “I’d like to live over here.” My long term relationship ended. I was staying with my daughter on a temporary basis, and we had an argument. I needed and wanted to move quickly. Most of my stuff was already in storage so there wasn’t much to pack. I did not have the money, but I thought, that would come too. I drove around, and drove around looking for a place. I just happened to end up on that same street I mentioned and saw a for rent sign. I immediately pulled over, saw the place, two days later I had the apartment. Maybe my relationship ended for me to get there as I thought this same thing many times when I was in an unhappy relationship. The mind is a powerful thing.
When I get an email from Tyler Perry I read the “entire” email – every word. EVERY time I finish feeling inspired and uplifted. How many marketers out there can you say that about? Talk about a true example of marketing via true authenticity. What makes this style so special?
- His emails do not have a catchy title.
- His emails are plain text not HTML or any type of template. The website version is nice.
- Many times they are selling to us but not pushy at all- suggestions or reminders about what’s coming up.
- At first, there were more of them and they were pretty consistent. They have slowed down now.
- They always have something positive and motivational.
- Every one is written by him…they feel very authentic.
- There is no sign up box for his emails when you click on his site.
- There is no pop up encouraging you to sign up before you go any further.
If you are not on his email list, I strongly urge you to sign up and pay attention. SO….what’s your style?
Thought I would share a lil motivation…kinda fits don’t cha’ think?
