Often we are so busy we forget to look up and see where we are. We get so caught up in our “stuff” that we may not take time to step back and determine if there is more. We put one step in front of the other and don’t look up.
More could be time with a loved one or friend, a class or webinar to grow our knowledge, taking the time to nurture a new business relationship, or simply taking time for self.
Do you have those moments when you know that you have been working on things that are important and necessary yet you don’t really know what you accomplished? What did you learn today?
I heard this quote recently when I was watching a special on BET:
“My to do list is always to get better” ~~Ice Cube
Do we miss the fact that we can do better, or we are better than where we are?
Maybe it’s that we are stuck in our daily lives and what society or others tell us to do that we get too comfortable; especially when things are going well. Let’s take a leap to something new, stretch our imagination, a different now, vs. when we are forced to look at what we could be doing differently because what we were doing no longer works.
Make a To-Do-Better List
Go over it every morning; try to complete at least one preparedness goal everyday.
Here are a few items on my list I want to share:
1. Be Grateful
Each day I take a moment to reflect and be grateful. I intentionally live in the present, in the moment that is going on right now. I no longer focus on what could have been yesterday or what will be tomorrow…but focus on today, breath..and enjoy it. It’s all good and getting better.
2. Be Open to new experiences
We have to be open to all that the universe has in store for us. We have to be willing to accept those challenges that occur as learning and opportunities for growth. If we want to achieve more, step to the next level, we have to open ourselves up to alignment with our inner energy source that will manifest new and exciting things. (“Excuses Be Gone, Dr. Dwayne Dyer)
3. Stay Up-to-date on what’s new in your industry
Join forums, create a list of competitors on twitter. Wherever there is a place to stay in the know, subscribe and make time to read it. It’s great to sign up for things but we must make time to read it. One of my biggest weaknesses that I am working on.
4. Be open to feedback
Open up for feedback and suggestions…Ask. If you have a mentor, coach, partner, someone you trust and value, seek suggestions. It’s important to surround ourselves with the right people. Often they will suggest without even asking because they care and want to see you succeed.
Staying focused as you know always breeds accomplishment. We know what to do and when we aren’t, so shift the energy and let’s do it.
This is my primary list, what is yours, or what would you add?
