If you are sharing a computer with someone, have multiple computers that you work from, or maybe you have a new computer and can’t find some of your websites that are your favorites, how do you manage that? What about your passwords that are saved in various browsers, it is frustrating and a little time-consuming. Chrome saved my life!
Typically if we use different browsers, we have to re-save the passwords in each browser or capture them other ways.
Sure you can import/export your bookmarks to make sure they exist in each browser but as time moves along and you discover new sites, download new software, etc…how do you keep up?
I highly recommend Chrome as your primary browser.
Google Chrome saves time!
If you are not a Google person or have not taken the time to explore all that Google offers, it’s time to learn more. With all that is happening now with Google+, Gmail using Rapportive, Gmail labels and filters, Google profiles and more…Chrome is another addition that fits and in my opinion – THE browser to use.
Maybe it’s me and I just never discovered it before, but I wanted to share this because it has been a life saver for me and it is awesome.
I have been using Chrome as my primary browser for over a year now and recently learned there was an option to log in.
Sure I have had my Gmail account for 8 years (which I LOVE) and always logged into it, but did not know there was separate option to log into Chrome.
As you may know my Toshiba passed away a few months back and I was forced to find alternative ways to run my business using someone else’s computer. My backup did not solve my issues with my bookmarks nor did it have other software that I use.
The time came that I no longer had access to the other persons computer and I had to find a solution in a couple of hours. All I could think about was I can’t lose the new bookmarks I saved, I knew my backup would take care of my files…but I just did not want to go through trying to recoup my favorites and passwords one more time and I knew a new computer would be arriving soon.
I began to research ways to save my bookmarks and discovered that if you log into Chrome – using your Google account password…your bookmarks become available from any computer.
I ALSO found out through logging in, that not only did it have my current bookmarks, but it told me I had encrypted information from a previous account (old password) ..it provided even more of my previous bookmarks from another computer I no longer used…I was in heaven!
Okay…another bonus. I logged into Chrome on a different computer. Accessed the bookmarks…just grateful for that…THEN when I went to one of the websites that I typically log into…my information came up…I DID NOT have to find the password…ALL of that showed up automatically!
To log into Chrome click on:
- Tools – the picture of a wrench
- 3/4 down the menu you will see an option to login
- Follow the instructions and join me in the excitement!
Google saved my life and QUITE a bit of time. You must try it!
AVS & Evernote
We all know that Evernote is great for collaboration. Sharing computers forced me to truly utilize Evernote even more.
Evernote syncs with my Android phone and my computer and allows me to communicate with clients about projects that we are working on regardless if I am on a computer, on the internet, or not.
When I run into a website and want to truly capture that page, I clip it with Evernote. There are times when bookmarking is just not enough.
It builds in so much efficiency and allows me to have a reference to that site readily available. If you haven’t started using it…I highly recommend you get started today.
The best part…it’s FREE!
I like it best when sharing folders with others which saves more time in communication of projects and helps to have notes that will keep the process and communication flow smoothly.
AVS4you….the best multimedia software is such an excellent value. I particularly love using it for screen capturing, video or audio conversion and editing, as well as turning PowerPoint presentations into video. One option is to pay an annual fee which is under $50 and have great tools available to you. (You actually can get it for $39 until January 31st!)
With the switching of computers, I was able to download it each time and not skip a beat in using those tools to help my clients. I love the convenience of having a multitude of software available in one place vs. using different open source software that does the same thing but different brands. Why not have it all in one place…it really saves time and money!
These are my latest discoveries of tools that I just cannot live without. When the need is strong for flexibility, you really need to check these out!..If you are using these, share your experience or suggestions that will help get even more value from them..I’d love to hear it!
What software rocks your world? How or what tools do you feel are the best when it comes to gaining efficiency?
