My second advantage is about CONFIDENCE. I spent 24 years at a major corporation. I was young, I grew up in that company. I knew from the beginning I wanted management. I wanted to be in the know, help people, and be responsible for my results. I earned my bachelor’s degree and began my career in management.
I was told to network, play the game. I did a little – but I was not as confident as others – nor was it fun. I didn’t like many of the people I needed to play the game with, so I was not inspired. I was stuck with a limited amount of people that could influence my career. In hindsight, I could have played the game more, but my only regret is that I did not leave earlier and/or start my business while I was still working. But, life is always in session and I am a firm believer that things happen as they are meant.
When I decided to start my business and become a virtual assistant – I felt it deep in my soul from head to toe – I just “knew” this was a path I needed to take. During this journey, my confidence has grown and appeared at times I didn’t expect. I love the option of networking live, and networking virtually. When I meet people, I can “choose” to approach and/or work with them. As I am sure you know, we don’t “mesh or bond” with everyone we meet, but when we do, it’s a beautiful thang!
I now have the confidence to get out and meet new people because it’s beneficial, but most importantly, because it’s fun. I am not too shy to talk about myself as well as I love learning more about others and their businesses. I make sure I enjoy every day and ALL of my clients!
What’s the most fun, is when I acquire a new client and I learn something I didn’t know before. I respect the RISK that the client takes in agreeing to hire me and we start the process of learning each other in developing our partnership.
Most importantly, I love the confidence I have gained through the confidence my clients have in my abilities…a true marriage that can be very satisfying on many levels.
