Every year regardless if it has been a good year or not, we start to reflect and hope that the upcoming year will be better. I don’t know about you but as this historic year has progressed and it started out with such a positive force…some things have been rough. I have not spoken to anyone new or old in my life that has not been touched by this economy. It is so amazing to me how quickly things can change – for the worse as well as for the better. Regardless of some of the best laid plans, things happen.
I am “programming” my intentions through a plan to ensure my goals are met.
In my humble opinion, when life brings about change – the attitude we utilize with the change makes all the difference in the world. I am one of those people that prefers to look at the glass as half full, I work very hard to keep that attitude. I am not saying it is always easy, but my attitude is a choice. I choose to look at the positive side every time so that if there is a negative, it won’t weigh me down. I feel very strongly there is a lesson to be learned through all things!
In preparation for a new year and reflecting on the past year, I am thinking and planning on what I can try and/or attempt that will make 2010 better for me, my family, and those that I provide services too. I am very excited as I will celebrate my 5th year in business! I know that I am blessed to have made it this far.
There are many things I need to be accountable for that just never were accomplished, and I know deep down are still needed. I would love to attract more clients, I know that will happen…I want to be ready for that and more. I really want to incorporate time to help others. I want to pay it forward as some say, but most of all I want to help keep others uplifted which really helps me “stay” uplifted… I have a plan for my plan – here it is:
- Goals – I have started to list my long and short term goals. I think it’s important to have a goal that seems out of reach to assist me with stretching to achieve them. After all, we all want more but what is more…how will I know I have achieved more if I am not specific about what I am trying to achieve. Once I have listed the goal, I am also listing the actions needed to achieve that goal.
- Consistency – As much as I work hard at being consistent, I – like others, lose it at times. I know that if I am consistent in whatever endeavor I seek, I will achieve it. Consistency is key for me…distractions come and go – but when I am consistent and intentional…the energy just keeps on flowing.
- Writing – This is a big goal for me – but it is also a necessity. I have clients that I help maintain their websites, marketing materials, email campaigns, Twitter, and Facebook. At every turn there is a need to write or edit something. As a result I am striving to learn more about writing that will attract their ideal client and mine. Everywhere I turn in my research for growing a business, writing is involved. My intention is to schedule consistent time each day to write and/or learn more to improve my writing skills.
- Business and Marketing Plans – If I want to grow as a person, as a business, I know I need to plan and put it in writing. I have to admit I have not re-written or updated my previous business and marketing plans as I know I should, the past few years. My life has had some unexpected things happen that distracted me from this and now it’s time I take the first three items above and create the written plans.
I am not claiming to be an expert, but I am claiming to be experienced. I have had success in my life, I am very grateful, and I expect more success. I know that if I am to achieve success at the magnitude I intend for it to be, it is up to me to put the work in. I am not afraid of hard work, matter of fact I love it. I can only hope that my journey, my notes, my inspiration will inspire at least “one” somebody to do something different and positive for themselves.
If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it. ~Mary Engelbreit
